Celebrating Stunning GCSE Outcomes for an Amazing Year Group at Goffs Academy!
In a year of unprecedented changes to the English examination system, and warnings nationally of much lower results this year with a move to an even more demanding examination system, students at Goffs have surpassed all expectations and secured an incredibly strong set of outcomes. Within a bumper set of results, there were many strong subject performances, including in the reformed English and Mathematics 1-9 graded courses, where already very strong pass rates are up on last year. Overall, outcomes are in excess of expectation for both ‘strong’ passes at grade 5 (C/B) and the ‘elusive’ grade 9 (A**) across these two subjects. In the Sciences, the proportion of A and A* grades is 20% higher than the national average.
There are some exceptional individual student performances; 38 students achieved an impressive 6 or more qualifications at grade A or A* and 16 were awarded 10 or more A and A* grades. Particularly notable are the 12 A or A*grades achieved by Charlotte Hunt, Ryan Law, Katy Pinnell, Melike Temizturk and Olivia Turner, who also all achieved grade 9s in English or Mathematics or both.
The vast majority of students will move on to Goffs’ highly successful Sixth Form, gaining places alongside a large number of external students, to study qualifications from our broad range of more than 30 academic and vocational subjects.
Ben Pearce, Associate Principal, noted “I am delighted that our students have achieved these exceptional set of grades, as they worked incredibly hard in their preparation, supported by a remarkably dedicated staff body. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with these highly motivated young people, and I am sure that they will continue to excel as they continue in the next steps of their education.”
